While John C. Moore is mainly known as the city’s first mayor, his career in the public eye dates to before the city’s formation, when he began working for the Western & Atlantic Railroad.
Evidence suggests Moore joined the Western & Atlantic Railroad circa 1868.[1] He held several roles during his tenure with the railroad, including delivery clerk and conductor.
